3th International Summer School on Nanoscience & Nanotechnologies

Marta Dai Prè, from Univesity of Padova (CNR), is going to present at the “3th International Summer School on Nanoscience & Nanotechnologies” the work performed in the framework of ORION project related to the development of transparent plastic material doped with nano-structured down-converter elements for the realization of optical elements for modification of the solar spectrum in order to enhance the efficiency of solar cells. The work is focused on the integration of manganese-doped ZnS nanoparticles (ZnS:Mn) into transparent PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) using an in situ polymerization approach. In the first step stable ZnS:Mn nanoparticle (NP) dispersions are prepared and capped with acrylic acid. In the second step the NPs are mixed with MMA and bulk nanocomposites are obtained by radical polymerization.

Presentation of ORION project at Concentrating Photovoltaic optics and power

This workshop aims at connecting project managers, engineers and physicists working on different design aspects of Concentrating Photovoltaic Power Plants. Bridging the gaps of knowledge by the exchange of academic research results and experiences in the field moves us closer to understanding the issues in the forerun of the first commercial concentrating photovoltaic power plants.

The EUSEW will take place from Monday 9 to Friday 13 February 2009, with many side events foreseen during the weeks immediately before and after.
The majority of the events will take place in Brussels within the European Commission's Charlemagne building , the Van Maerlant building of the European Economic and Social Committee, the Hemicycle of the European Parliament, the Jacques Delors building of the Committee of the Regions, and the Madou Tower of the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation.
To emphasise the Europe-wide dimension of this initiative, the EUSEW will also comprise major events taking place over numerous European Member States and involving European Citizens from Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden.

The principal conference objective is to answer the question: How will CPV technologies fit into our energy future? To guide the conference to the objective, keynote speakers will survey the landscapes of CPV technology (reflective, refractive, linear, point focus, storage, etc.), markets (requirements, competitive landscape, investors, policies, analysis, risk, etc) and projects (large, small, funding, etc.).
